UTeM has achieved significant progress in research activities due to its vision of becoming one of the world’s leading innovative and creative technical universities. The number of articles published in reputable journals has increased substantially. The growth in research funding and the relatively high number of postgraduate students reflect the continuous expansion of research activities. UTeM has identified "Advanced Manufacturing Technology" as its niche area. The core areas and research clusters encompassing various disciplines are key factors that strengthen the faculties and, in turn, drive research and innovation activities within the university.
UTeM menyokong pakatan strategik antara industri dan penyelidik untuk mempercepatkan proses penyelidikan, pembangunan dan pengkomersilan serta memberikan kelebihan daya saing antara satu sama lain. Maklumat penyelidikan disebarkan kepada masyarakat dan industri secara meluas melalui seminar, persidangan, pameran dan pertandingan. Pemilikan paten
baru telah dilindungi melalui Inisiatif Harta Intelek di Universiti. Pengekalan aktiviti penyelidikan, inovasi dan pengkomersilan di universiti telah dijana oleh UTeM melalui pembentukan kecemerlangan individu dan kumpulan, perangsangan perkembangan pemikiran inovatif, dan penciptaan sumber kekayaan yang lebih baik bagi individu, perniagaan dan masyarakat pada umumnya berdasarkan pada faedah ekonomi dan sosial sesebuah Negara.
UTeM has established a center known as the Centre for Research and Innovation Management (CRIM) with the aim of effectively coordinating, evaluating, and promoting all research activities within the university. This center also manages commercialization applications for the university’s research products, technologies, and services.

UTeM supports strategic partnerships between industry and researchers to accelerate the processes of research, development, and commercialization, while providing competitive advantages to all parties involved. Research information is widely disseminated to the public and industry through seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and competitions. The ownership of new patents has been protected through the University's Intellectual Property Initiative. The sustainability of research, innovation, and commercialization activities at the university has been driven by UTeM through the development of individual and group excellence, the stimulation of innovative thinking, and the creation of better sources of wealth for individuals, businesses, and society at large based on the economic and social benefits of the nation.

OBJECTIVE
- To ensure that the registration process and official issuance of research grant award letters are carried out within the stipulated timeframe.
- To ensure the notification of approval for seminar/conference attendance applications at the CRIM level.
- To ensure that the notification of the decision for journal article publication applications is made within 10 working days after the application is received at the CRIM level.
- To ensure that the submission of final reports by researchers is carried out according to the stipulated deadline.
