The Research Policy of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka emphasizes that every research activity must be conducted ethically, responsibly and in compliance with national and international laws and guidelines. This ethical responsibility covers objectives, methodology, data collection and management, publication and protection of intellectual property. Researchers are responsible for ensuring that the dignity, welfare, safety and rights of research subjects are protected and that any form of misconduct, exploitation, damage to the environment is avoided.
The UTeM Research Ethics Committee conducts reviews for research involving living things, namely humans, animals, plants, personal data and privacy and biosafety. All research activities involving living things must obtain approval from the UTeM Research Ethics Committee before research work and data collection commences.
